To convert and save your old Roxio PhotoShow projects, you must export them into a modern video format like MP4 using the original desktop application. Since the Roxio PhotoShow Premium online service reached its End-of-Life (EOL) status, old projects saved locally as proprietary .photoshow or .cps files cannot be opened by third-party video editors. Locate Your Old Project Files
Before converting, you need to find where your original project files are stored on your computer.
Default Directory: Open your computer’s file explorer and navigate to Documents (or My Documents) > My PhotoShows.
File Extensions: Look for files ending with the .photoshow or .cps extensions.
Source Media: Ensure the original photos and music tracks used in the slideshow are still in their original folders, as Roxio project files only save pointers to the media rather than the media itself. Export and Convert the Projects
If you still have the legacy Roxio PhotoShow desktop software installed, follow these steps to export the project into a usable video format:
Open the Application: Launch your legacy Roxio PhotoShow software and navigate to the Manage tab.
Select the Project: Under the My PhotoShows section, right-click the specific slideshow you want to save.
Choose Export: Click Export PhotoShow from the context menu.
Select a Standard Format: Choose Windows Media Video (WMV) or MPEG-2 as your output format, as these are universally supported by modern media players.
Save the File: Choose your destination folder and click Save to begin the rendering process. Modernize the Format Using Handbrake
Because native Roxio outputs like WMV, MPEG-2, or old FLV/MOV configurations can be bulky or incompatible with mobile devices, it is best to convert them to H.264 MP4. Download the free, open-source transcoder tool Handbrake.
Drag and drop your exported Roxio video file into Handbrake. Select the MP4 container under the “Summary” tab.
Choose H.264 (Intel QSV/NVENC/x264) for video encoding and AAC for audio encoding.
Click Start Encode to create a highly compatible file perfect for smartphones, tablets, and cloud backups. Burn Your Show to DVD (Alternative Method)
If you prefer physical media, you can use modern suites like Roxio Creator NXT to compile your project onto a DVD:
